Being Happy

One of the books I'm reading at the moment is called Change Your Thinking by Sarah Edelman, though I guess I'm not reading it anymore because I just finished it today. Anyway - the last section is about being happy and there's a particular paragraph on p284 which really struck me. I'd just copy it out if copyright didn't exist, so the next best thing is a quick summary;

You can't wait for things to be 'right' before you can allow yourself to feel happy. If we postpone our happiness to some future time when everything is right - when we have a better job, house, more money, or whatever, then we miss out on being happy now, and that's a real shame because we only get one chance at today - it's not a dress rehearsal! When our happiness is conditional on problems solved, we may never be happy as we will always have problems. We need to solve the problems that we can, accept those that we can't and focus on the many good things that we already have.
